In the arena, the wolf gladiators represents the barbarian tribes which inhabit the untamed reaches of the kingdom. They traditionally wear the hide of the crimson-eyed wolf, which superstitious folk claim bears demonic blood in its veins.
Clad only in furs and light leathers, wolf gladiators cannot hope to withstand attacks for long. Instead they are forced to rely on nimbleness to evade them, followed by a ferocious assault when they perceive an opening.
Packs of wolf gladiators are sometimes forced to fight unarmed against large beasts, or else smaller groups of better equipped warriors. Often they are slaughtered, but on occasion they bring down their daunting adversaries through cunning and savagery.
The most famous incident involving wolf gladiators came when a pack arranged to have themselves infected with lycanthropy prior to their bout. they transformed into werewolves on the floor of the arena, leapt into the stands, and murdered their way to freedom.
A wolf gladiator once managed to escape from the arena, dodge the guards, and flee into the forest. His bloody remains were found there the next day. Apparently he ran into a pack of crimson-eyed wolves, who were unimpressed by his choice of attire.
