| 5. Codex walked through the darkness at the edge of the camp, amidst the teeming shadows. Merry fires lit the horizon far behind her. Around them bards played and warriors reveled. But her forced smile had faltered beneath her troubles, and she hadn't been able to stay.
The healer settled down in the blackness behind a tent. She looked this way and that, making sure no vampires, ninja, vampire ninja, or other nocturnal prowlers were nearby. When she was satisfied, she tapped the globe at the top of her staff. A deep red glow blossomed within its depths. Codex sighed. She didn't know why recording her words in the arcane repository was so comforting, but it was. "Vork kicked Bladezz, Clara, Tink, and Zaboo out of the guild today.
