Braincrack and a suggestion

Some how got this idea the other day and I'm not sure if it's even possible, but I'll throw it out there: What would you guys think about creating a bot that could add items/legions/generals/troops/item sets to their appropriate tables when the article is created? Could cut down on 'orphaned' pages after a major content update. Again, not sure if even possible since I'm not well versed on that side of things, but if there's interest I'm sure we could find someone that could tell us if that's possible or not.

Also can we clean up this talk page a bit? A lot of the earlier discussions are outdated/obsolete

DPL Extension.

one option would be to request the DPL extension to dynamically create the lists based on category, further reading can be found here, per wikia this can cause heavy server load and is only installed under special circumstances, trying to think where I've seen this used already. I wouldn't go for that (fixed your link - it had a pipe at the end), if you can have a bot generate tables using autogenerated page lists like I used on Category:Raids using the categorytree tag, that's ok but I don't know how to use bots and I wouldn't install extensions that could potentially cause lags in the wiki – FMF (talk) 07:27, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
I've used DPL on several wikis previously -- there's no lag, even if you disable the cache (although you shouldn't disable the cache :P). Additionally, this is a single page, we want to grab various things from a template for pages in a certain category, it's not being run wiki-wise --- it's a pretty made-for-DPL situation. Bots are generally used for mass jobs, and I wouldn't say updating a single page counts (or nine pages) counts for that. Nonetheless, I can't see anything pressingly wrong about our current situation.--Ryo Sangnoir (talk) 15:56, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

General/troop AV

With the recent changes to General and Troop stats, would it at all be possible to have the AV on those replaced with either Legion Power or Legion Damage (since they are two different things now)? Case in point - AV for Angus the Red is listed as 68, but his actual damage is 136. The previous calc for generals was 10*ATT+2*DEF. Since stats were buffed but damage was not, that makes the new calc for generals 2*ATT+0.4*DEF. actually, looking at the numbers, it appears that AV is half what it needs to be, for generals.

Troop damage was ~7.2*ATT+~1.8*DEF, and now it's that same total divided by 5. Although I might be able to get a closer estimate now with the multiplier. Possibly not. Anyways: Angry Peasants show an AV of 37.5, which is quite a bit different from their ingame Legion Power of 53 (54 when using the 1.44*ATT+0.36*DEF calculation).

Basically, the fact that ATT is much more valuable to generals and troops should be information that's put across to people looking for the "best" generals/troops.

I'm not sure if this is something easily done or not, it's just been a bit of a pet peeve that the information is not the same as what one would expect to see in game.

Raid page Load Problems

Haven't been able to load the Raid page since yesterday, keep getting a 503 error and that the server is unable to process request. Since I was the last one (I think) to edit the page, I have been trying to replicate the table that I was adding to it here: http://dotd.wikia.com/wiki/Template:TableTesting2 So far I haven't experienced any problems, but I can't be sure if the table structure on the Raid page might not have any errors in its syntax that is preventing the page from loading. What I am wondering is if there is a way to access the page coding directly to see what might be the problem and edit it? - Zraithbc (talk) 17:24, December 11, 2012 (UTC)

Was able to access a cached version of the page and got to the edit page from there. I replaced the table on the page with the one that I was testing and it looks like the problem with the page hanging up is solved. From looking at the differences, it appears that it doesn't like the process of retrieving information that is not there. So when adding new raids to the table, make sure that the information (or most of the info) is on the corresponding Raid page before updating the table. - Zraithbc (talk) 21:27, December 11, 2012 (UTC)

New Item page for Passive Boost Items

Any thoughts of adding another page to the Equipment & Items Category that lists all the Passive Boost Items that have been released so far? Zraithbc (talk) 22:01, February 8, 2013 (UTC)

Variables?

Can we have Variables Extension here? I think it's possible.

Better could be Semanitic Extension, but it seems it is not available now.

- RedPenguin (talk) 16:46, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

It is possible but applying an extension means it runs for all the pages in the wiki and that may mean that all the pages will take longer to load – FMF (talk) 21:57, March 13, 2013 (UTC)
I tried to find some info about performance with this extension in internet and haven't found any relevant topics.
On the other hand, if page loads from cache, it is all the same, what the method it is written with - switches or variables. While page complexity is under limits, only end page size matters.
If I'm not right, correct me please.
