Lore

Though Yagga prefers to abstain from barbaric slaughter, even he understands the need of a good blade now and then. The Axeolin was created by the same dwarven engineer behind the Harpista, providing all the benefits of a normal battleaxe with the elegance of a mandolin. Just be mindful of the edges; safety wasn't at the forefront of Yagga nor the dwarf's mind when they created this.
An elaborately detailed axe utilized by Yagga's people, it was given to him during his coming of age ceremony and has been a constant reminder on the importance of tribal traditions. It has saved him from countless foes and comes to life in his hands during battle. Though he has mostly favored his Axeolin of late, he'll never discard this symbol of his childhood and tribal honor.
The giants that roam the northern hills are a constant and worrisome problem for the local tribes. Many a warrior has lost their life fighting these ancient and menacing titans, but Yagga has put them all to shame with nary a drop of his own blood spilled in the process. As fortune would have it, giants have exceptionally large ears making them ideal targets for his persuasive melodies.
It is tradition that certain warriors of great families within Yagga's tribe are bestowed with arcane tattoos during their coming of age ceremony. It is said that these tattoos imbue the warrior with the might of the land itself, and many believe it catches the eyes of ancient gods, bestowing potent boons to those worthy of their favor. Yagga himself turned down this great honor, claiming that his voice was all the boon he was worthy of receiving from the gods themselves, and to ask for more would risk their wrath.
Though frostbite is a very real concern in the northern portions of West Kruna, Yagga refuses to wear fully covered gloves. Preferring instead to keep his hands nimble should he need to strum out a melody in short order. Though many have argued it is better to have less dexterous fingers than no fingers at all, Yagga simply laughs and continues to play his tune. You aren't certain if Yagga is wise, heroic or reckless. Perhaps a dash of all three.
Though the tribes of the north are in a constant struggle with the giants which inhabit the land alongside them, neither group seems able to gain the final, crucial upper hand over the other. Though it is believed that their numbers are few, many giants still seem to appear throughout the north and have proven supernaturally difficult to kill.
Upon occasion Yagga will don a heavy, simple cloak and clothes and travel far to the south, visiting every inn and castle along the way. He enters as a mysterious, unknown visitor playing for room and board and continues this game until he is ultimately recognized by someone for his music. The game has ended quicker with every passing season as his reputation often precedes him far into the southlands of West Kruna.
Though their lives are still full of strife and bloodshed, Yagga's tribe takes special care to appreciate and refine their culture beyond warfare. Loving care and pride is given to the creation of intricate and beautiful pieces of jewelry, highly desired across West Kruna for their attention to detail and unique designs.
Great tundra wolves roam the north in savage packs, dominant and peerless they are dwarfed in size and ferocity only by mystical beasts and grand tundra bears. Yagga's tribe takes special pride in taming these beasts, and chieftains or warriors of reputation and prestige ride them into battle. A fearsome reminder of man and beast's exemplary dedication to savagery.
When a truly grand battle takes place, the Slaughterhorns are sounded. Their deep bellows echoing across the land as a call to arms for local tribes and a message to the gods. It is believed that during moments of great battles the heavens gaze down and take stock of warriors who demonstrate exceptional skill and resilience in the face of adversity. The echo of the Slaughterhorn is heard loud and often these days.
Though Yagga's childhood was filled with bloodshed and strife, he sought a different path. Born with a gentle heart, he fell in love with the power of music from an early age and saw great potential within its melodies, something magical and mystic in nature. So when it came time for him to defend his people as was expected, he took to lute and string instead of sword and bow. A natural and extremely potent gift burned within his breast and in each pluck of the lute he channeled powerful arcane magics in a beautiful, but dominant crescendo.
Yagga does not hear music the way others do, he can see the tunes quivering upon the wind and bends it to his will through arcane manipulation. With the aid of a seasoned sorcerer he constructed these crude creatures, beings forged from the very fabric of music itself. Though their frames are frail, their attunement to the arcane is unparalleled. Their haunting melodies shake even the most resolute of opponents, often sending them fleeing before battle has even begun.
While Yagga is a prodigy and peerless in his craft, many others have flocked to his side hoping to learn everything they can from this renowned warrior-bard. When the battle has reached its peak, the beating of drums, the melodic howling of their berserkers and the ferocity of their blows beats back even the most stalwart of adversaries.
