  • Batwing Shield - Reference to the cartoon Batfink, and his catchphrase "My wings are like Shields of Steel."
  • Guru Bear - The lore text 'smarter than the average bear' was what Ranger Smith would often say of Yogi bear.
  • Keldor - Reference to the fictional character Skeletor, the arch-enemy of He-Man from the 'Masters of the Universe' franchise.
  • Monolith's Pantaloons - This item is a reference to Obelix from the French Comic "Asterix and Obelix", where the Roman empire conquered the whole of Europe except for a small village in Gaul (France). The inhabitants were able to resist the Romans through a potion that granted them super-strength for a small amount of time. Obelix possesses this super-strength permanently after he fell into a cauldron of the potion as a baby, and his job is a Menhir (Monolith) carver.
  • Scuttlegore - Inspired by a creature from Thundercats.
  • Sheet of the Craven Mage - The Sheet of the Craven Mage is a nod to the character Linus from the long-running comic strip "Peanuts".
  • Thunder Liger - The name is a reference to the Japanese wreslter, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, while the ability is a reference to the Thundercats.
  • Unseeing Eyes - The ability name is a reference to ThunderCats and the Sword of Omens.

  • Abominable Showman (Achievement) - A reference to the Abominable Snowman
  • Faustus the Wizard - A reference to Faust a character from German folklore who sold his soul to the devil in exchange for power and magic.
  • The Grail - The Holy Grail is one of the foremost legends in Christian mythology, and has long been the objective of many quests, both real and fictional, most notably the search for it during The Crusades and, fictionally, that undertaken by King Arthur and his knights.
  • Hrolf's Set - Reference to the story of Beowulf and Grendel.
  • The Lambton Breastplate - Reference to the Lambton Worm legend.

Arthurian Legends

  • The Green Sword - Sir Gauvin, more commonly known as Sir Gawain, was the youngest of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table, in addition to being Arthur's nephew. One of Gawain's most notable appearances was in the 14th century poem "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight".
  • Lord Tyranthius - A lot of the lore for Lord Tyranthius is based off of legends about King Arthur. The pre-lore for Ryndor mentions him pulling a sword from the stone, a reference to Excalibur. The pre-lore also describes him as being sealed in a magic cave along with his knights, ready to be awakened if needed, another reference to one of the legends about his death. Camlann Hill is a reference to the Battle of Camlann, believed to be the final battle of King Arthur. The Battle of Badon in the pre-lore for Camlann Hill is another reference to a battle attributed to King Arthur.
  • Rhongomynyad - Arthur’s spear in the Mabinogion story of Culhwch and Olwen
  • Sir Cai - The Welsh rendering of Sir Kay, one of the first knights of the Round Table.

  • Dark Legacy Gauntlets - "Shoot the food" is a reference to the classic game series Gauntlet, one of which is named Gauntlet: Dark Legacy.
  • Derek's Set - Reference to Dirk the Daring from the old Dragon's Lair game.
  • Drakes and Ladders (z3a3q1) - Reference to the board game Snakes and Ladders.
  • Faedark Valley (z2) - Reference to Greater/Lesser Faydark from Everquest.

  • Gauntlets of the Realm Walker - Part of the description is a reference/foreshadowing to Clash's area Wizard in the Tower
  • Green Mushroom - A reference to the card Colbaeus The Wretched, from Clash of the Dragons. The Walrus part is also a reference to Guilbert's faithful companion.
  • Portal Shield - The other side of the portal, from whence the beams of energy and 'bizzare' projectiles come from, is the Wormhole Shield of Legacy of a Thousand Suns, which text reads:
This shield is either a crime against astrophysics or its crowning achievement. Perhaps both. In any event, it provides excellect protection. Any fire directed at the shield, whether from a machinegun, a blaster, or a rocket launcher, disappears into the wormhole - leaving its bearer completely unscathed. What happens to this fire is an interesting question, but one which need not concern you...
  • Pyro-Slayer's Chest - The description is a reference to the way many players get tons of gold, but have nothing to do with it other than buying more land to produce more gold.

  • Clockwork Gauntlets - The lore text is a reference Sir Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics., specifically the Zeroth Law.
  • Dirthax's Tooth Fragment - The description is a reference to Fish & Chips.
  • Flesh-Ripper - Reference to the Macuahuitl, a type of weapon used by mesoamerican cultures such as the Aztecs.
  • Greater Shadow Bolt Scroll - Reference to the introduction of The Shadow radio program

  • Celeano - A harpy from Greek mythology.
  • Dark Drake Vambraces - The lore text contains a reference to Echidna, the mother of some of the most known monsters in Greek Mythology (such as Cerberus.)
  • Diomede's Set - The name is a reference to the Greek hero Diomedes
  • Erebus the Black - Named after the primordial deity who was the personification of darkness, and also used to refer to a region of the Underworld.
  • Expose Weakness - Reference to the Greek hero Achilles.
  • Galatea - Based on the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea.

  • Thunderbolt - Reference to Zeus's Iconic weapon of choice forged by cyclopes under the blacksmith god Hephaestus.
  • Tiresias - A blind prophet from Thebes, seen in several famous literary classics such as The Odyssey and The Divine Comedy

  • The Muramasa - Muramasa Sengo was a renowned 16th century Japanese swordsmith whose swords were extremely sharp. His swords were outlawed by Tokugawa Ieyasu, who had lost many friends and relatives to swords made by Muramasa. The myth developed that a Muramasa blade, once drawn, must taste blood before it can be re-sheathed, even that of it's wielder.
