Lore
I. Dearest sister,
Norpshire is a pleasant little place. The locals are very friendly, though I'm afraid I can't always understand their accents and local dialect. It's so embarrassing! When they tell me to "Piss off!" or "Sod off!", all I can do is smile and nod. I hope they don't think I'm being rude, and that I'm not making some sort of faux pas! Your loving sibling, Abigail |
II. Dearest sister,
Today was my first day of teaching at the school. Most of the children were just lovely. One of them even put an apple on my desk! But when I came back to the schoolroom after eating lunch, I found a boy urinating on it like a wild dog marking its territory! I told my superior, but she just laughed and said it was a good thing I caught him in the act, instead of eating it! Your loving sibling, Abigail |
III. Dearest sister,
I've met a wonderful man! His name's Pietri, and he's the local blacksmith. I saw him in his forge, with sweat glistening on his muscles, and I almost swooned -- until some unkind man said I was blocking the street, and pushed me down in a puddle. But Pietri helped me up and let me warm myself by his forge. He was ever so nice! Your loving sibling, Abigail PS. I was walking in the woods, and saw the boy who urinated on my apple. He was leaning into an old well, looking to see what was inside, and Oh! I think that's Pietri at the door! I really must go. I shall send this missive on the way to the public house. |
IV. Dearest sister,
Pietri and I had ever so much fun at the pub. The local ale seemed quite ghastly at first, but my tongue soon lost all sense of taste and was able to enjoy it. He told me stories of his work at the forge. He once even made a weapon for one of the dragon-rider's companions! I do hope he'll keep courting me! Your loving sibling, Abigail PS. They found the boy. Some meddling dog heard him crying at the bottom of the well, and went for help. I've never cared for those animals! |
V. Dearest sister,
Please forgive me for being so tardy in sending this letter. Over the past weeks things have just been happening so very quickly that I haven't had time to write. I've been faced with a terrible dilemma! Pietri is a wonderful man, and he loves me with all his heart! But, alas, I can only love him with half my own. We were enjoying dinner in the public house, when a stranger came in -- holding a lute. He said his name was Phineas, and he was a wandering bard. He asked the barkeep if he could play for his supper. Oh! His music! It was like being transported to the heavens! He has the soul of a poet, and the voice of an angel! That night I was with Pietri, but all I could hear was Phineas' sweet, sweet voice. Your loving sibling, Abigail PS. Our town was attacked by a dragon, but some heroes arrived and slew the beast. |
VI. Dearest sister,
What can I do? I have two splendid men in my life! Strong, brave, kind Pietri, and Phineas with his handsome face, witty words, and beautiful music. I love them both! Oh, if only we lived in one of those distant lands where a woman may take as many husbands as she pleases! I couldn't bear to be without either of them. What can I do, sister? What can I do? Your loving sibling, Abigail |
VII. Dearest sister,
Men are such silly creatures! I told Pietri and Phineas my heart was torn between them, and that I'd been dividing my nights between them too. I said I wanted to keeping loving, and being loved by, both of them. After all, I said, doesn't Rassys -- the very goddess of love -- have hosts of divine and mortal lovers? I'd hoped they'd be reasonable. But Pietri got angry and drove his fist through the wall. And Phineas sang a scathing song about the infidelity of womankind! They want me to choose, or I'll lose them both! What can I do? Your loving sibling, Abigail |
VIII. Dearest sister,
My prayers have been answered! Well, not exactly. I tried asking Rassys for help, and the worthless deity ignored me. But someone else was listening! That night, when I was sitting in front of the fire with a glass of wine, trying to make that impossible choice, a voice spoke to me from the shadows. I dropped the glass and screamed. But the succubus caught it and gave it back. Of course, I was started at first, but she was ever so nice! She said her mistress in hell understood all about forbidden love, and would help me. She was so much friendlier than the local clerics, with their bossy little gods! I asked if she could bring me, Pietri, and Phineas together, so we could all love each other and live happily ever after. And she said she would! I just had to do a little favor for her mistress in return. Your loving sister, Abigail PS. Burning down a temple is really much easier than it sounds. |
IX. Dearest sister no stop let me have that arm get off me oh now look what you made me write!
Something terrible has happened! The demon betrayed me serves you right what did you think was going to happen stop it stop it stop it I'm trying to write a letter! Instead of bringing us together in love, she turned us all into a get off get off I have to tell her no stop! We're a monster! A horror from hell! That's enough stop writing or I'll keep doing this you stupid woman yes and so will I we have better things to do than write stupid letters to your stupid sister. Fine! Fine! Your dearest vile cheating demon-consorting sister, |
