| VII. For decades, Hetta earned fame and expanded the family fortune. She plundered dungeons, battled in foreign wars, and triumphed on the Colosseum's bloody sands. Her fellow warriors were so impressed that many of them followed in her footsteps -- begging her to make similar deals with Lord Bahmenides on their behalf. She did so, ushering in a fresh delivery of infernal weapons, demonic fruit, and kickable imps.
Hetta and her demon-armored band continued to adventure and wage war. But after one of their number was slain, they began to have qualms about the contracts they'd made. Seeing a friend's soul dragged to hell and hearing their anguished screams can be somewhat disturbing to one's equanimity. | |
