At first the whispers were beneficial, telling him where danger lurked, aiding him in attaining power and knowledge and even gifting him with greater control over the arcane arts. He considered the heirloom his mother gave him to be a precious boon, and his unseen benefactor found within to be a welcome companion. But as the years drag on, the ceaseless murmurs take their toll on his sanity. Each day as he kills, steals, explores and researches at the whim of the amulet, he loses little bits of himself along the way. It is only a matter of time until the man he once was becomes but a shambling husk in the service of some ancient, unknown master.
