| 2. The whelpling screamed to Valanazes. He told the aureate wyrm that one of his brethren, the whelpling's mother, had been slain by the giant golem who defended the city of Kleos. Valanazes' blue eyes flashed when he heard the tale. He ordered his minions to follow him to Kleos, shunning the paltry task he had been given, thinking only of vengeance. There he found the bronze guardian standing outside its walls, towering above the city -- a great engine of war fashioned in the image of a soldier. At the golem's feet was the corpse of a red dragon, bearing mortal wounds from his titanic blade. | |
