VIII. The voices in his head grew ever more insistent and he could feel himself slipping as he continued deeper into the cavern. He was so close now, nothing would stand in his way, least of all his own thoughts and he hurried his pace. Finally a broken and battered door lay before him. Stepping over it he could hear the rustling of vermin underfoot and once again illuminated his surroundings. The room was gargantuan and along each wall was an array of massive glass tubes with a green liquid inside. Upon closer inspection he saw figures suspended within the liquid. Snakes, spiders, and humans all lay there, floating gently and connected by an intricate, brass tubing system.
