I. We lived within the rock, and it was good. The bones of the world gave us all we desired. Food, shelter, weapons - everything was bountiful for those with the muscles and stone-sense to bring it forth. - The Stone and the Sky.
II. We became strong. Powerful bodies sheathed in steel, mighty weapons in our hands, we fought and conquered within the depths. We knew the ways of metal and rock, and so victory was ours. Empires were carved from the stone, and like stone we thought they would endure forever. - The Stone and the Sky
III. We allowed arrogance to blind us. We thought the others who dwelled within the rock mere savages, believed we would always vanquish them when they came against us. Confident and complacent in our power, we knew not that judgment loomed in the darkness. - The Stone and the Sky
IV. We were defeated. When the orocs came in vast numbers, and waged war upon our borders, we were unprepared for their fury. And then the goblins beset us in turn, beings we thought weak and worthless, that we had slaughtered many times. Soon war was on all sides, and our stone crumbled before it. - The Stone and the Sky
V. We were driven from the depths. Our world was lost to us, conquered and destroyed by our enemies and by our own folly. Many died in battle, choosing to bleed their last upon the stone. But we went to the surface, to face whatever fate awaited us beneath the sky. - The Stone and the Sky
